Musnad Ahmad 30:1032

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "If the shoelace of one of you breaks, or its strap, let him not walk in one of them with a sandal while the other is barefoot. Let him take them both off, or let him put sandals on them both."
