Musnad Ahmad 30:1033

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A vow does not bring to the son of Adam anything that I have not decreed for him, but the vow brings him to what I have already decreed for him. Through it, he extracts from the miserly person that which he would not have given him before."
