Musnad Ahmad 30:1041

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "The recitation was made light for David, peace be upon him. He would order his mount to be saddled, and he would recite the Quran before his mount was saddled. And he would not eat except from the work of his own hands."
