Musnad Ahmad 30:1053

He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The Angel of Death came to Moses, peace be upon him, and said to him: 'Answer your Lord.'" He said: "So Moses struck the eye of the Angel of Death and gouged it out." He said: "The angel returned to Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and said: 'You sent me to a servant of Yours who does not want to die, and he has gouged out my eye.'" He said: "So Allah restored his eye and said: 'Return to My servant and say: Do you want life? If you want life, then place your hand on the back of an ox; for every hair that your hand covers, you will live for a year.'" He said: "Then what?" He said: "Then you will die." He said: "Then [I choose] now, from nearby." He said: "O Lord, bring me near to the Holy Land, a stone's throw away." He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "By Allah, if I were with him, I would show you his grave beside the road, at the red sand dune."
