Musnad Ahmad 30:1099

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "When one of you stands to lead the people [in prayer], let him lighten the prayer, for among them are the elderly, the weak, and the sick. And when he prays alone, let him lengthen his prayer as he wishes."
