Hadith 30:1158

Hajjaj narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, [who said]: Yunus ibn Yusuf narrated to me, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, who said: The people dispersed away from Abu Hurayrah. Then Natil al-Shami said to him: "O elder, narrate to us a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: "Indeed, the first of the people to be judged on the Day of Resurrection will be three: A man who was martyred, so he will be brought, and He will make him recognize His blessings, and he will recognize them. He will say: 'What did you do with them?' He will say: 'I fought for Your sake until I was killed.' He will say: 'You lied, but you fought so that it would be said: He is brave, and it has been said.' Then he will be ordered [to be taken], and he will be dragged on his face until he is cast into the Fire. And a man who learned knowledge and taught it, and recited the Quran, so he will be brought, and He will make him recognize His blessings, and he will recognize them. He will say: 'What did you do with them?' He will say: 'I learned knowledge for Your sake and taught it, and I recited the Quran for Your sake.' He will say: 'You lied, but you learned so that it would be said: He is a scholar, and it has been said; and you recited the Quran so that it would be said: He is a reciter, and it has been said.' Then he will be ordered [to be taken], and he will be dragged on his face until he is cast into the Fire. And a man whom Allah had made prosperous and given all kinds of wealth, so he will be brought, and He will make him recognize His blessings, and he will recognize them. He will say: 'What did you do with them?' He will say: 'I did not leave any path that You love for [wealth] to be spent in, except that I spent in it for Your sake.' He will say: 'You lied, but you did it so that it would be said: He is generous, and it has been said.' Then he will be ordered [to be taken], and he will be dragged on his face until he is cast into the Fire."
