Musnad Ahmad 30:1223

Hashim narrated to us, 'Isa—meaning Ibn al-Musayyib—narrated to us, Abu Zur'ah narrated to me, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to visit the house of a people among the Ansar, while there was a house between him and them. He said: This was difficult for them, so they said: "O Messenger of Allah, glory be to Allah, you visit the house of so-and-so, but you do not visit our house?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Because there is a dog in your house." They said: "But there is a cat in their house." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The cat is a beast of prey."
