Musnad Ahmad 30:1248

Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Muzarrad narrated to me, he said: My uncle Sa'id Abu al-Hubab narrated to me, he said: I heard Abu Hurairah say: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "When Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, created the creation, the kinship (al-rahim) stood up and took hold of the waist-wrapper of the Most Merciful. It said: 'This is the station of the one who seeks refuge from severance.' He said: 'Are you not pleased that I should join whoever joins you, and sever whoever severs you?' Read, if you wish: {So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your ties of relationship? Those [who do so] are the ones that Allah has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision. Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon their hearts?}" [Muhammad: 22-24]
