Hadith 30:1360

Yunus narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, from Muhammad, from Abu al-Zinad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said: "Two women went out, and with them were two boys. A wolf attacked one of them, so they began to dispute over the remaining boy. They took their dispute to Dawud (David), and he judged that it belonged to the elder of the two. They passed by Sulayman (Solomon) the Prophet, and he said, 'How is your matter?' They told him the story. He said, 'Bring me a knife; I will split the boy between you.' The younger one said, 'Will you split him?' He said, 'Yes.' She said, 'Do not do it; my share of him is hers.' He said, 'He is your son,' and he judged that it belonged to her."
