Musnad Ahmad 30:1468

Abdullah ibn al-Harith al-Makhzumi narrated to us in Mecca, al-Dahhak—meaning Ibn Uthman—narrated to me, from Bukayr ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from Abu Hurayrah, that he said to Marwan: "You have made the sale of usury (riba) lawful." Marwan said: "I have not done so." Abu Hurayrah said: "You have made the sale of *sukuk* (promissory notes/vouchers) lawful, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has forbidden the sale of food until it is taken possession of." He said: So Marwan addressed the people and forbade their sale. Sulayman said: I looked at the guards of Marwan taking them from the hands of the people.
