Hadith 30:1562

Sulayman narrated to us, Isma'il informed us, Muhammad ibn Abi Harmalah informed us, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu al-Darda', that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was narrating upon the pulpit: "But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens" [Ar-Rahman: 46]. I said: "Even if he committed adultery, and even if he stole, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said the second time: "But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens." I said the second time: "Even if he committed adultery, and even if he stole, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said the third time: "But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens." I said the third time: "Even if he committed adultery, and even if he stole, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes, even if the nose of Abu al-Darda' is rubbed in the dust."
