Musnad Ahmad 30:1583

Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Verily, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has extra angels who follow the gatherings of dhikr (remembrance). They assemble where there is dhikr. When they pass by a gathering, some of them ascend above others until they reach the Throne. Then Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says to them—and He is more knowing—: 'Where have you come from?' They say: 'From Your servants who are asking You for Paradise, seeking refuge with You from the Fire, and seeking Your forgiveness.' Then the Almighty and Majestic says: 'They are asking Me for My Paradise; have they seen it? And how would it be if they had seen it? And they are seeking refuge from My Fire; how would it be if they had seen it? I have indeed forgiven them.' They say: 'Our Lord, among them is Your servant, so-and-so, who is a sinner. He passed by them for a need of his and sat with them.' Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says: 'Those are the companions; their companion shall not be miserable.'"
