Musnad Ahmad 30:1587

Sulayman ibn Dawud—meaning al-Tayalisi—narrated to us, Sadaqah ibn Musa al-Sulami al-Daqiqi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Wasi’ narrated to us, from Sumayr ibn Nahar, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Your Lord, Mighty and Majestic is He, said: 'If My servants had obeyed Me, I would have given them rain by night and caused the sun to rise upon them by day, and I would not have let them hear the sound of thunder.'"
