'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, my father narrated to me, Abu al-Jallas 'Uqbah ibn Sayyar narrated to me, he said: 'Ali ibn Shamakh narrated to me, he said: I witnessed Marwan asking Abu Hurayrah, "How did you hear the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, pray over the funeral?" Abu Hurayrah said: "O Allah, You are its Lord, and You created it, and You guided it to Islam, and You took its soul, and You are most knowing of its secret and its openness. We have come as intercessors, so forgive it."
