Hadith 30:1691
Haytham narrated to us, Hafs ibn Maysarah—meaning al-San'ani—narrated to us, from al-'Ala', from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood over some people who were sitting and said: "Shall I not inform you of the best of you from the worst of you?" The people remained silent, so he repeated it three times. A man from the people said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "The best of you is the one whose good is hoped for and whose evil is safe from, and the worst of you is the one whose good is not hoped for and whose evil is not safe from."
