Musnad Ahmad 30:1696

Haytham narrated to us, he said: Hafs ibn Maysarah informed us, from al-‘Ala’, and Qutaybah narrated to us, he said: ‘Abd al-‘Aziz informed us, from al-‘Ala’, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection on a single level plain. Then the Lord of the Worlds will appear to them, and it will be said: 'Will not every nation follow what they used to worship?' So the cross will be manifested to the worshiper of the cross, and the idol to the worshiper of the idol, and the fire to the worshiper of the fire, and they will follow what they used to worship. The Muslims will remain, and the Lord of the Worlds will appear to them and say: 'Will you not follow the people?' They will say: 'We seek refuge in Allah from You, we seek refuge in Allah from You. Allah is our Lord, and this is our place until we see our Lord.' He will command them and make them steadfast. Then He will withdraw, then He will appear and say: 'Will you not follow the people?' They will say: 'We seek refuge in Allah from You, we seek refuge in Allah from You. Allah is our Lord, and this is our place until we see our Lord.' He will command them and make them steadfast." They said: "And will we see Him, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Are you harmed in seeing the moon on the night of the full moon?" They said: "No." He said: "Then you will not be harmed in seeing Him at that hour. Then He will withdraw, then He will appear and make Himself known to them, and He will say: 'I am your Lord, I am your Lord, follow Me.' The Muslims will rise, and the Bridge (al-Sirat) will be placed, and they will be upon it like the best of horses and riders, and their saying upon it will be: 'Grant safety, grant safety.' The people of the Fire will remain, and a group of them will be cast into it, and it will be said: 'Are you filled?' And it will say: 'Are there any more?' Then a group will be cast into it, and it will be said: 'Are you filled?' And it will say: 'Are there any more?' Until, when they are all gathered within it, the Most Gracious, Mighty and Majestic is He, will place His Foot into it, and it will draw together, and then it will say: 'Enough, enough.' When the people of Paradise are placed in Paradise, and the people of the Fire in the Fire, Death will be brought, bound, and it will be made to stand upon the wall that is between the people of the Fire and the people of the Paradise. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise!' They will look out, fearful. Then it will be said: 'O people of the Fire!' They will look out, rejoicing, hoping for intercession. It will be said to the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire: 'Do you recognize this?' These and those will say: 'We have recognized it; it is Death which was appointed over us.' It will be laid down and slaughtered on the wall. Then it will be said: 'O people of Paradise, eternity, no death! And O people of the Fire, eternity, no death!'" Qutaybah said in his narration: "And I will draw some of it to others," then he said: "Enough," it said: "Enough, enough."
