Ibrahim narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn ‘Isa al-Thaqafi, from the freed slave of al-Munba‘ith, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: "Learn from your lineages what you may use to maintain your ties of kinship, for maintaining the ties of kinship is a cause of love among one's family, an increase in one's wealth, and a delay in one's effect [i.e., lifespan/legacy]."
