Musnad Ahmad 30:2105

'Attab narrated to us, he said: 'Abdullah narrated to us, he said: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Nawfal narrated to me, that 'Abdullah ibn Rafi' informed him, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "That he forbade the *ramiyah* (the shot/the target practice), that the animal be shot, then eaten; but rather it should be slaughtered, then let them shoot if they wish."
