Musnad Ahmad 30:226

Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurairah, attributing it to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: "Were it not that I would burden the believers, I would not have stayed behind from any military expedition. I do not have that upon which I can carry them, and they do not stay behind me."
