Musnad Ahmad 30:2337

Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Hamid—meaning Ibn Bahram—narrated to us, he said: Shahr ibn Hawshab narrated to us, he said: Abu Hurayrah said: While a man and his wife were in the past ages, unable to afford anything, the man came from his journey and entered upon his wife hungry, having been afflicted by severe starvation. He said to his wife: "Do you have anything?" She said: "Yes, rejoice, the provision of Allah has come to you." He urged her, and said: "Woe to you, seek if you have anything." She said: "Yes, a little something, we hope for the mercy of Allah." When the time became long for him, he said: "Woe to you, get up and seek if you have bread, and bring it to me, for I have reached [the limit of my endurance] and am exhausted." She said: "Yes, the oven is ripening now, so do not be hasty." When he remained silent for a while, and she anticipated that he would say [it] to her again, she said of her own accord: "If I were to get up and look at my oven..." She got up and found her oven full of the sides of sheep, and her two hand-mill stones grinding. She went to the hand-mill and shook it, and she took out what was in her oven of the sides of sheep. Abu Hurayrah said: By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Abu al-Qasim, according to the statement of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "If she had taken what was in her two hand-mill stones and had not shaken them, they would have continued to grind until the Day of Resurrection."
