Musnad Ahmad 30:2475

Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, saying: Abu ‘Awanah narrated to us, from ‘Umar ibn Abi Salamah, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There was a man among the Children of Israel who was a merchant. He would sometimes lose and sometimes gain. He said: 'There is no good in this trade; I will seek a trade that is better than this.' So he built a hermitage and became a monk in it, and he was called Jurayj." He then mentioned the rest of the hadith in a similar manner.
