Musnad Ahmad 30:2495

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, he said: Abu Hayyan narrated to us, he said: Abu Zur'ah ibn 'Amr ibn Jarir narrated to us, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: Meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the foreleg was presented to him, and it used to please him. He took a bite from it, then said: "I am the master of the people on the Day of Resurrection. And do you know why that is? Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will gather the first and the last on a single level plain; the caller will make them hear, and the sight will penetrate them. The sun will draw near, and the people will reach a level of distress and anguish that they cannot bear and cannot endure. Some people will say to others: 'Do you not see what you are in? What has reached you? Will you not look for someone who will intercede for you with your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic?' Some people will say to others: 'Your father Adam.' So they will come to Adam and say: 'O Adam, you are the father of mankind. Allah created you with His hand, breathed into you from His spirit, and commanded the angels, so they prostrated to you. Intercede for us with your Lord; do you not see what we are in? Do you not see what has reached us?' Adam, peace be upon him, will say: 'My Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has not been angry with before, and will not be angry with after. He forbade me from the tree, and I disobeyed Him. Myself, myself! Myself, myself! Go to someone else. Go to Nuh (Noah).' So they will come to Nuh and say: 'O Nuh, you are the first of the messengers to the people of the earth, and Allah named you a grateful servant. Intercede for us with your Lord; do you not see what we are in? Do you not see what has reached us?' Nuh will say: 'My Lord has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has not been angry with before, and will not be angry with after. I had a prayer [to make] against my people. Myself, myself! Myself, myself! Go to someone else. Go to Ibrahim (Abraham).' So they will come to Ibrahim and say: 'O Ibrahim, you are the Prophet of Allah and His Khalil (intimate friend) from among the people of the earth. Intercede for us with your Lord; do you not see what we are in? Do you not see what has reached us?' Ibrahim will say to them: 'My Lord has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has not been angry with before, and will not be angry with after'—and he mentioned his lies—'Myself, myself! Myself, myself! Go to someone else. Go to Musa (Moses).' So they will come to Musa and say: 'O Musa, you are the Messenger of Allah; Allah chose you with His messages and with His speaking to you over the people. Intercede for us with your Lord; do you not see what we are in? Do you not see what has reached us?' Musa will say to them: 'My Lord has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has not been angry with before, and will not be angry with after. I killed a soul whom I was not commanded to kill. Myself, myself! Myself, myself! Go to someone else. Go to 'Isa (Jesus).' So they will come to 'Isa and say: 'O 'Isa, you are the Messenger of Allah and His word which He cast to Maryam, and a spirit from Him.' He said: 'It is so.' 'And you spoke to the people in the cradle. Intercede for us with your Lord; do you not see what we are in? Do you not see what has reached us?' 'Isa will say to them: 'My Lord has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has not been angry with before, and will not be angry with after'—and he did not mention any sin for himself—'Go to someone else. Go to Muhammad.' So they will come to me and say: 'O Muhammad, you are the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets. Allah has forgiven you your past and future sins. Intercede for us with your Lord; do you not see what we are in? Do you not see what has reached us?' I will stand and come under the Throne, and I will fall prostrate before my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic. Then Allah will open for me and inspire me with His praises and beautiful commendation of Him, something He has not opened for anyone before me. It will be said: 'O Muhammad, raise your head. Ask, and you shall be given. Intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.' I will say: 'O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah! O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah! O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah! O Lord!' He will say: 'O Muhammad, admit those of your Ummah who have no account [to be taken] from the right-hand gate of the gates of Paradise, and they are partners with the people in what is besides that of the gates.'" Then he said: "By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the distance between two doorposts of the gates of Paradise is as between Makkah and Hajar, or as between Makkah and Busra."
