Hadith 30:2496
Yahya narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Ajlan, who said: Sa‘id ibn Abi Sa‘id narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah, that a man insulted Abu Bakr while the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was sitting. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, began to marvel and smile. When the man persisted, Abu Bakr retorted to some of what he said, so the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, became angry and stood up. Abu Bakr followed him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, he was insulting me while you were sitting, but when I retorted to some of what he said, you became angry and stood up." He said: "Indeed, there was an angel with you defending you. When you retorted to some of what he said, the devil fell [into the situation], and I was not going to sit with the devil." Then he said: "O Abu Bakr, three things are all true: No servant is wronged with an injustice and overlooks it for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, but that Allah strengthens his victory through it. No man opens a door of giving, desiring by it to maintain ties, but that Allah increases him in abundance through it. And no man opens a door of begging, desiring by it to increase [his wealth], but that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, increases him in scarcity through it."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .
