Musnad Ahmad 30:2674

Yazid narrated to us, he said: Muhammad informed us, from Ubayd Allah ibn al-Mughirah ibn Mu'ayqib, from 'Amr ibn Sulaym ibn 'Abd—Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: "Its chain of narration was not preserved; it is only Sulayman ibn 'Amr ibn 'Abd al-'Atwari, and he is Abu al-Haytham, the companion of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri"—from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, and from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Hurayrah, they both said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Allah, I take for myself a covenant with You that You will not break for me. For I am only a human being, so whichever of the believers I have harmed, or insulted, or cursed, or whipped, make it for him a purification, a prayer, and a means of nearness by which You bring him closer to You on the Day of Resurrection."
