Sufyan narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Umayyah, who heard it from a sheikh—and he said once: I heard it from a man, a Bedouin from the people of the desert—who said: I heard Abu Hurayrah saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever recites: 'By the winds sent forth' (Al-Mursalat), and says: 'In what message after this will they believe?' (Al-Mursalat: 50), let him say: 'We have believed in Allah.' And whoever recites: 'By the fig and the olive' (At-Tin), let him say: 'Yes, and I am of those who bear witness to that.' And whoever recites: 'Is that not able to give life to the dead?' (Al-Qiyamah: 40), let him say: 'Yes.'" Isma'il said: So I went to see if he had memorized it, and he was a Bedouin. He said: "O son of my brother, did you think that I did not memorize it? I have performed Hajj sixty times; there is not a year among them except that I know the camel upon which I performed Hajj."
