Musnad Ahmad 30:2766

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Shu‘bah narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Abdullah ibn Yazid al-Nakha‘i, he said: I heard Abu Zur‘ah narrating from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: "Name yourselves with my name, but do not use my kunyah (patronymic)." He said: "And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to dislike the *shikal* (a white marking on one leg) of horses, or the *ashkal* (plural of shikal)." ‘Abdullah said: My father said: "Shu‘bah is mistaken in this statement: ‘Abdullah ibn Yazid; it is actually Salam ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Nakha‘i."
