Musnad Ahmad 30:306

Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, Al-A’mash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah or from Abu Sa’id—he (Al-A’mash) was in doubt—who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Verily, Allah has angels who roam the earth, in addition to the scribes of the people. When they find a people remembering Allah, they call out to one another: 'Come to your objective.' So they come and surround them up to the lowest heaven. Then Allah says—and He knows best about them—: 'What did you leave My servants doing?' They say: 'We left them praising You, glorifying You, and remembering You.' He says: 'Have they seen Me?' They say: 'No.' He says: 'And how would it be if they had seen Me?' They say: 'If they had seen You, they would have been even more intense in their praise, glorification, and remembrance of You.' He says: 'And what are they seeking?' They say: 'They are seeking Paradise.' He says: 'And have they seen it?' They say: 'No.' He says: 'And how would it be if they had seen it?' They say: 'If they had seen it, they would have been even more eager for it and more intense in their seeking of it.' He says: 'And from what are they seeking refuge?' They say: 'From the Fire.' He says: 'And have they seen it?' They say: 'No.' He says: 'And how would it be if they had seen it?' They say: 'If they had seen it, they would have been even more intense in fleeing from it and more intense in their fear of it.' He says: 'I call you to witness that I have forgiven them.' They say: 'Indeed, among them is so-and-so, the sinner, who did not intend them; he only came for a need.' He says: 'They are the people whose companion shall not be miserable.'"
