Musnad Ahmad 30:311

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The best charity is that which leaves behind sufficiency." "Your wife says: 'Feed me, or else divorce me.' Your servant says: 'Feed me, or else sell me.' And your child says: 'To whom are you entrusting me?'" They said: "O Abu Hurairah, is this something the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, or is this from your own pocket?" He said: "Rather, this is from my own pocket."
