Musnad Abu Hurairah (RA)

Hadith 30:3220

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: Sa‘id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Abu ‘Umar al-Ghudani, who said: I was sitting with Abu Hurayrah, when a man from Banu ‘Amir ibn Sa‘sa‘ah passed by. It was said to him: "This is the ‘Amiri who has the most wealth." Abu Hurayrah said: "Bring him back to me." So they brought him back to him. He said: "I have been informed that you are a man of much wealth." The ‘Amiri said: "Yes, by Allah, I have a hundred red camels, and a hundred dark-colored ones," and he continued counting the colors of his camels, the varieties of his slaves, and his tethered horses. Abu Hurayrah said: "Beware of the hooves of camels and the cloven hooves of sheep." He repeated that to him until the color of the ‘Amiri began to change or shift. He said: "What is that, O Abu Hurayrah?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Whoever possesses camels and does not give their due right in their *najdah* (time of hardship) and their *rusul* (time of ease).'" We said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is their *najdah* and their *rusul*?" He said: "In their hardship and their ease. For they will come on the Day of Resurrection as fat, large, plump, and spirited as they ever were. Then he will be laid prone on a flat, level plain, and they will trample him with their hooves. When the last of them has passed over him, the first of them will be returned to him, in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years, until judgment is passed between the people, and he sees his path." "And if he possesses cattle and does not give their due right in their *najdah* and their *rusul*, they will come on the Day of Resurrection as fat, large, plump, and spirited as they ever were. Then he will be laid prone on a flat, level plain, and every animal with a cloven hoof will trample him with its hoof, and every animal with horns will gore him with its horns. When the last of them has passed over him, the first of them will be returned to him, in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years, until judgment is passed between the people, and he sees his path." "And if he possesses sheep and does not give their due right in their *najdah* and their *rusul*, they will come on the Day of Resurrection as fat, large, plump, and spirited as they ever were—meaning there is no crooked-horned one among them, nor one with a broken horn—then he will be laid prone on a flat, level plain, and every animal with a cloven hoof will trample him with its hoof, and every animal with horns will gore him with its horns. When the last of them has passed over him, the first of them will be returned to him, in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years, until judgment is passed between the people, and he sees his path." The ‘Amiri said: "And what is the right of the camels, O Abu Hurayrah?" He said: "That you give the precious one, lend the one that gives much milk, provide a mount for the back, provide milk to drink, and allow the stallion to cover."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
