Hadith 30:3312
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, from Abu Salih, that he heard Abu Hurayrah saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Were it not that I would burden my nation — or the people — I would have loved not to remain behind any expedition that goes out in the way of Allah. But I do not find that upon which I can carry them, and they do not find that upon which they can be carried, so they go out. And I wished that I would fight in the way of Allah and be killed, then be brought to life and be killed, then be brought to life and be killed."
حدثنا ابن نمير، حدثنا يحيى، عن أبي صالح، أنه سمع أبا هريرة، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لولا أن أشق على أمتي - أو على الناس - لأحببت أن لا أتخلف خلف سرية تخرج في سبيل الله، ولكن لا أجد ما أحملهم عليه، ولا يجدون ما يتحملون عليه، فيخرجون، فوددت أن أقاتل في سبيل الله فأقتل، ثم أحيا ثم أقتل، ثم أحيا ثم أقتل "
