Hadith 30:3556

Rawh narrated to us, Malik narrated to us, and Uthman ibn Umar said: Malik informed us, from Ibn Shihab, from Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, from Abu Hurayrah, that a man broke his fast during Ramadan, so the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) ordered him to offer expiation by freeing a slave, or fasting two months, or feeding sixty poor people. He said: "I do not find [the means]." Then a basket of dates was brought to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Take this and give it as charity." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I do not find anyone more in need than me." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) laughed until his canine teeth appeared. He said: "Take it."
