Musnad Ahmad 30:3557

Rawh narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hafsah narrated to us, from Ibn Shihab, from Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, that a Bedouin came slapping his face and pulling out his hair, saying: "I see myself as nothing but destroyed." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "And what has destroyed you?" He said: "I had intercourse with my wife during Ramadan." He said: "Are you able to free a slave?" He said: "No." He said: "Are you able to fast two consecutive months?" He said: "No." He said: "Are you able to feed sixty poor people?" He said: "No." And he mentioned his need. He said: Then a basket—which is a container—was brought to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, containing fifteen sa's, I believe of dates. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Where is the man?" He said: "Feed this." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, there is no one between the two lava plains [of Medina] more in need than us, the people of my household." He said: Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, laughed until his canine teeth appeared, and he said: "Feed it to your family."
