Abdullah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Abu al-Rabi’ al-Madani, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are four things that people will not abandon from the affairs of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era): wailing (over the dead), slandering lineages, saying 'we were given rain by the rising of such-and-such star,' and contagion. A camel gets mange and infects a hundred; so who infected the first one?"
