Musnad Ahmad 30:3747

Abu Sa’id narrated to us, Khalifah—meaning Ibn Ghalib—narrated to us, Sa’id ibn Abi Sa’id al-Maqburi narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, that a man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which deeds are best?" He said: "Faith in Allah and Jihad in the way of Allah." He said: "And if I am not able to do that?" He said: "You assist one who is lost, or you work for one who is clumsy." He said: "And if I am not able to do that?" He said: "Restrain yourself from evil, for it is a charity that you bestow upon yourself."
