Musnad Ahmad 30:3758

Hammad ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Abu Mawdud, from Ibn Abi Hadrad, from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever spits in the mosque, let him dig and bury it, and let him move it away; otherwise, let him spit in his garment."
