Hadith 30:3787

Abu Ahmad narrated to us, Jabir ibn al-Hurr al-Nakha'i narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abis, from Kumayl ibn Ziyad, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: I went out with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, into a garden. He said: "O Abu Hurayrah, the majority have perished, except for those who said like this and like this, and they are few." I walked with him, then he said: "Shall I not guide you to a treasure from the treasures of Paradise? It is: 'There is no power and no strength except by Allah' (La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah)." He said: Then he said: "O Abu Hurayrah, do you know what is the right of Allah upon the servants?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "His right is that they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him." Then he said: "Do you know what is the right of the servants upon Allah? For their right upon Allah, if they do that, is that He does not punish them." I said: Shall I not inform them? He said: "Leave them, so that they may work."
