Hadith 30:41
Narrated to us Muhammad ibn Fudayl, from ‘Umarah, from Abu Zur‘ah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which charity has the greatest reward?" He said: "Indeed, by your father, you shall be informed: That you give charity while you are healthy and stingy, fearing poverty and hoping for longevity. And do not delay until, when it reaches the throat, you say: 'For so-and-so is such-and-such, and for so-and-so is such-and-such,' when it has already become for so-and-so [i.e., the inheritors]."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل، عن عمارة، عن أبي زرعة، عن أبي هريرة، قال: جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، أي الصدقة أعظم أجرا؟ قال: " أما وأبيك لتنبأنه: أن تصدق وأنت صحيح شحيح، تخشى الفقر، وتأمل البقاء، ولا تمهل حتى إذا بلغت الحلقوم قلت: لفلان كذا، ولفلان كذا، وقد كان لفلان "
