Hadith 30:42
Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from ‘Umarah, from Abu Zur‘ah, who said: I do not know it except from Abu Hurayrah, who said: Gabriel sat with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he looked toward the sky. Suddenly, an angel was descending. Gabriel said: "This angel has not descended since the day he was created, before this hour." When he descended, he said: "O Muhammad, your Lord has sent me to you. Shall He make you a king-prophet, or a servant-messenger?" Gabriel said: "Be humble before your Lord, O Muhammad." He said: "Rather, a servant-messenger."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل، عن عمارة، عن أبي زرعة، قال: ولا أعلمه إلا عن أبي هريرة، قال: جلس جبريل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فنظر إلى السماء، فإذا ملك ينزل، فقال جبريل: إن هذا الملك ما نزل منذ يوم خلق، قبل الساعة، فلما نزل قال: يا محمد، أرسلني إليك ربك ، أفملكا نبيا يجعلك، أو عبدا رسولا؟ قال جبريل: تواضع لربك يا محمد. قال: " بل عبدا رسولا "
