Hadith 30:46
Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, 'Umarah and Jarir narrated to us, from 'Umarah, from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would say the Takbir in prayer, he would remain silent between the Takbir and the recitation. I said: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, tell me about your silence between the Takbir and the recitation; inform me what it is." He said: "I say: 'O Allah, distance me from my sins as You have distanced the East from the West. O Allah, purify me from my sins as a white garment is purified from filth' — Jarir said: 'as a garment is purified' — 'O Allah, wash me from my sins with snow, water, and hail.'" 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: My father said: "All of them are from Abu Zur'ah, except this one, which is from Abu Salih."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل، حدثنا عمارة، وجرير، عن عمارة، عن أبي زرعة، عن أبي هريرة، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا كبر في الصلاة سكت بين التكبير والقراءة. فقلت: بأبي أنت وأمي، أرأيت سكاتك بين التكبير والقراءة، أخبرني ما هو؟ قال: " أقول: اللهم باعد بيني وبين خطاياي كما باعدت بين المشرق والمغرب، اللهم نقني من خطاياي كالثوب الأبيض من الدنس - قال جرير: كما ينقى الثوب -، اللهم اغسلني من خطاياي بالثلج والماء والبرد " قال عبد الله بن أحمد: قال أبي: " كلها عن أبي زرعة إلا هذا، عن أبي صالح "
