Hadith 30:48
Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, from ‘Umarah, from Abu Zur‘ah, who said: I entered with Abu Hurayrah into the house of Marwan ibn al-Hakam, and he saw pictures in it while it was being built. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Allah the Almighty says: 'And who is more unjust than one who goes to create a creation like My creation? So let them create an atom, or let them create a grain, or let them create a barleycorn.'" Then he called for water for ablution, and he performed ablution and washed his forearms until he went beyond the elbows. When he washed his feet, he went beyond the ankles to the shins. I said: "What is this?" He replied: "This is the extent of the adornment (al-hilyah)."
حدثنا محمد بن فضيل، عن عمارة، عن أبي زرعة، قال: دخلت مع أبي هريرة، دار مروان بن الحكم، فرأى فيها تصاوير، وهي تبنى، فقال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " يقول الله عز وجل: ومن أظلم ممن ذهب يخلق خلقا كخلقي، فليخلقوا ذرة، أو فليخلقوا حبة، أو ليخلقوا شعيرة " ثم دعا بوضوء، فتوضأ وغسل ذراعيه حتى جاوز المرفقين، فلما غسل رجليه، جاوز الكعبين إلى الساقين، فقلت: ما هذا؟، فقال: " هذا مبلغ الحلية " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
