Hadith 30:529

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, he said: Al-Zuhri said to me: "Shall I not narrate to you two wondrous hadiths?" Al-Zuhri said, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said: "A man was excessive against his own soul. When death approached him, he instructed his sons, saying: 'When I die, burn me, then crush me, then scatter me in the wind in the sea. For by Allah, if my Lord takes power over me, He will punish me with a punishment that He has not punished anyone with.'" He said: "So they did that to him. Then Allah said to the earth: 'Deliver what you have taken.' And behold, he was standing. He said to him: 'What compelled you to do what you did?' He said: 'Your fear, O Lord,' or 'Fear of You.' So He forgave him for that."
