Hadith 30:667
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, from Abu Hurayrah: That a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "I am ruined, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "And what is that?" He said: "I had intercourse with my wife during Ramadan." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Can you find a slave to free?" He said: "No." He said: "Are you able to fast two consecutive months?" He said: "No, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Can you feed sixty poor people?" He said: "I cannot find [the means], O Messenger of Allah." He said: Then a basket (*'araq*)—and the *'araq* is a container—containing dates was brought to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He said: "Go and give this as charity." He said: "To someone poorer than me? By the One who sent you with the truth, there is no household between its two lava fields [of Medina] more in need of it than us." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, laughed, then said: "Go and give it to your family."
