Musnad Ahmad 30:731

Yahya ibn Zakariya ibn Abi Za'idah narrated to us, Ibn Abi Khalid—meaning Isma'il—narrated to me, from Abu Malik al-Aslami, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned Ma'iz ibn Malik away three times. When he came the fourth time, he ordered that he be stoned.
