Musnad Abu Hurairah (RA)

Hadith 30:921

Abu Kamil narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Thabit, from Abu Rafi’, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and more than one [narrator] from al-Hasan and Ibn Sirin, from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: "There was a man among those who were before you who had never done any good at all, except for monotheism (Tawhid). When he was dying, he said to his family: 'Look, when I die, burn me until you leave me as charcoal, then grind me, then scatter me on a windy day.' When he died, they did that to him. Then, suddenly, he was in the grasp of God. God, the Almighty and Majestic, said: 'O son of Adam, what compelled you to do what you did?' He said: 'O my Lord, out of fear of You.' He said: 'So He forgave him for that, and he had never done any good at all, except for monotheism.'"
