Hadith 30:944
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Ash'ath ibn 'Abd Allah, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: A wolf came to a shepherd and took a sheep from his flock. The shepherd pursued it until he snatched it back from it. The wolf then climbed onto a hill, sat on its haunches, and raised its tail. It said: "You have deliberately taken a provision that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, had provided for me, and snatched it from me." The man said: "By Allah, I have never seen a wolf speak like today." The wolf said: "Something more amazing than this is a man among the palm trees between the two lava fields (of Medina), who informs you of what has passed and what will be after you." The man was a Jew, so he came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and accepted Islam and told him the story. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, confirmed it as true. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "It is one of the signs of the approach of the Hour. It is near that a man will go out and not return until his sandals and his whip inform him of what his family did after him."
