Hadith 30:957
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from 'Ata', from Abu Hurayrah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to lead us in prayer, so he would recite aloud and he would recite silently. So we recited aloud in what he recited aloud in, and we recited silently in what he recited silently in. And I heard him say: "There is no prayer except with recitation."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق، قال: حدثنا سفيان، عن ابن أبي ليلى، عن عطاء، عن أبي هريرة، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يؤمنا في الصلاة، فيجهر ويخافت، فجهرنا فيما جهر فيه، وخافتنا فيما خافت فيه، وسمعته يقول: " لا صلاة إلا بقراءة "
