Musnad Ahmad 31:137

Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, my father narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Nu’man narrating from al-Zuhri, from ‘Ata’ ibn Yazid, from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked: Which of the people is best? He said: "A believer who strives with his wealth and his soul in the way of Allah." He said: Then who? He said: "A believer in a mountain pass among the mountain passes, fearing Allah and leaving the people from his evil."
