Musnad Ahmad 31:32

Ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Sulayman—meaning al-Taymi—from Abu Nadrah, from Abu Sa’id, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "As for the people of the Fire who are its inhabitants, they will neither die therein nor live. But as for people whom Allah intends mercy for, He will cause them to die in the Fire. Then the intercessors will come to them, and a man will take the bundle and scatter them," or he said, "and they will be scattered upon the River of Haya," or he said, "al-Hayawan," or he said, "al-Hayat," or he said, "the River of Paradise. Then they will sprout like the sprouting of a seed in the silt of a flood." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) then said: "Do you not see the tree that is green, then it becomes yellow?" or he said, "It becomes yellow, then it becomes green." Some of them said: It is as if the Prophet (ﷺ) had been in the desert.
