Musnad Ahmad 31:350

Abu Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Haywah narrated to us, Bashir ibn Abi Amr al-Khawlani informed me that al-Walid ibn Qays narrated to him that he heard Abu Sa’id al-Khudri saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "There will come successors after sixty years who neglected the prayer and followed desires, so they will soon encounter Ghayy (a valley in Hell). Then there will come successors who recite the Qur’an, but it does not pass beyond their collarbones. And three types of people recite the Qur’an: a believer, a hypocrite, and a wicked person." Bashir said: So I said to al-Walid, "What are these three?" He said: "The hypocrite is a disbeliever in it, the wicked person consumes by means of it, and the believer believes in it."
