Musnad Ahmad 31:367

Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, from Firas, from 'Atiyyah, from Abu Sa'id, from the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said: "Whoever shows off, Allah will show off through him, and whoever seeks to be heard, Allah will make him heard."
